Let go of what doesn't serve you...
“Anger is like flowing water; there's nothing wrong with it as long as you let it flow. Hate is like stagnant water; anger that you denied yourself the freedom to feel, the freedom to flow; water that you gathered in one place and left to forget. Stagnant water becomes dirty, stinky, disease-ridden, poisonous, deadly; that is your hate. On flowing water travels little paper boats; paper boats of forgiveness. Allow yourself to feel anger, allow your waters to flow, along with all the paper boats of forgiveness. Be human.”
It is water week at fringe, the perfect time to embrace flow, change and letting go. It's so much easier said than done but holding onto anger and frustration ends up only hurting YOU. Hate will eat you up from the inside out, anger will fill you with rage and make those around you miserable......the choice to live a liberated life, free of pain and anguish is yours, using the words of Frozen's Elsa simply let.it.go!
Since New Year, I physically felt myself totally run down from the demands of January and the insanely overwhelming Christmas festivities. My voice totally disappeared on me and lethargy was taking its grip far too often. After getting back to my wonderful students, our amazing new teachers and a big dose of reality (thanks to a grounding Earth week at fringe) I feel ready to take on 2017. No pressure, no hard core resolutions, I simply want to learn how to live the best life I can for me and those around me. First on that list is learning to let go and to forgive. Oh it's so easy to say and in actual fact I still haven't fully addressed it yet, skirting around conversations and holding everything I want and need to say inside (hence the lost voice, obviously a serious blockage of my Vishuddha/Throat Chakra). It will be an ongoing battle I am certain but the intention is there.
To live freely, choose love and embrace all beings with an open heart is the goal and it may take a lifetime but the intention allows us to move one small step closer to peace and soul enlightenment.
With a peak pose of Hanumanasana (Monkey Pose) in class this week, it's a tough one if, like me, not much yoga has taken place over the last few weeks but it definitely activates this mindset of letting go. Even in the most trying situations, the darkest moments, the greatest tests, can you breathe? Can you be present? Can you let go? We will use our fringe.water flow to warm up and really get into those hips, releasing tension and anxiety which again has a tendency to build up at this time of year. And when Savasna arrives......that will that certainly be a most welcome release and hopefully the intention will be set for this year and maybe a lifetime. Forgive. Always.
