CHRISTMAS CHARITY SINGLE FOR REFOOD
Listen to our charity single for REFOOD here!!
As some of you may know already, I am one half of Theatre Arts Club that takes place at Par-Tee family park in Vale Do Lobo, Algarve, Portugal.
Debora Casimiro & I met back in 2020 and almost immediately we began our creation of what is now a thriving and inspirational community full of parents & children alike who share a deep love for performance and connection. The way we work is effortless. One of us brings an idea to the table and as we develop it together it grows wings. The children are unwaveringly dedicated and the Mamas - well they rock mine & Debora’s world. Then that sparkle of an idea becomes the final performance which spreads so much joyous energy and excitement to all who participate and come to watch. It’s a collective vision which requires zero ego, love from all involved and genuine partnership.
Our very exciting news this week is that we are releasing Par-Tee Theatre Club’s version of One More Christmas as a charity single for the amazing Refood Almancil. This charity ensures that families in need in the Algarve receive food and essentials. Being able to give back to our community and families in need means so much to us and especially to the children who have dedicated so much time and energy to this wonderful cause.
We had such a blast recording this single with all of our talented participants. There really is nothing like hearing and feeling a community come together in love, music & energy.
A huge thank you to everyone involved who helped to make this happen! A huge shout out to Steve from Soundbunker, who dedicated a whole day in his awesome professional studio to record all the children. Not forgetting the incredibly talented Yesim Isabel Bir who came along to the session to add her beautiful vocals to this record. Having made the final 20 in Sweedish Idol this year at only 19 years old, we were over the moon to have her be a part of this. We have also been working on some very exciting new music for her so watch this space!
Debora & I I have so many dreams of furthering the theatre club and building upon its foundation. We are in the throes of creating a hub for creatives here in the Algarve to thrive in skills such as public speaking, artist development, learning musical instruments, expression through movement, the list goes on. If you’ve been following the resurrection of my blog, you will know that I am finally realising my calling, my purpose, my sadhana (the yogic term for individual purpose). I’m thriving personally, loving the creative process and the journey of self-discovery. Of course, there are moments I feel vulnerable but since restarting this blog and my Patreon account, I have felt so much less insecure about “me”. There are people out there who are championing my art, amazing friends sharing my music and even subscribing to my platform. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. Finally, a place to share my voice, a place to be free, a creative sanctuary.
It’s taken me 18 years of being in the music industry to finally feel comfortable in who I am and what I do and as a result, I don’t want it to take that long for young talent only just stepping into the trenches. With mine & Debora’s professional experience behind our community of creatives we can provide support, wisdom and knowledge. By nurturing and encouraging children’s natural areas of talent be it behind the scenes, musically or on the stage, I hope they will learn from an early age how to recognise what moves them from the inside and stand strong in their power. Human beings feel so deeply, we have emotions so deep they shape who we are and who we become. It is imperative we teach the next generation how to healthily express their feelings and that they feel safe to be authentically themselves. We hope that the Algarve will become a pioneer for young peoples’ creativity, expression and cultivation of invaluable life skills.
